DESIGNED FOR BUSINESS
The Avaya 1608-I is designed for everyday business users who require reliable access to standard telephone and call-management functions without the complexity of a high-end executive desk phone.
Its backlit three-line display presents caller information, menu options, call records and contextual soft-key functions in a clear format.
Eight programmable line and feature buttons provide quick access to call appearances, extensions, speed dials and supported system functions.
Red and green button indicators help users identify active lines, incoming calls, held calls and selected features.
Four contextual soft keys change according to the function shown on the display, allowing common actions to be completed without navigating through lengthy menus.
The central navigation controls provide access to contacts, call history, telephone settings and other system-supported functions.
Dedicated buttons are provided for telephone functions including speaker, headset, mute, volume, contacts, call log, menu and messaging.
The built-in full-duplex speakerphone supports hands-free conversations without requiring the handset to be lifted.
A dedicated headset connection allows a compatible wired headset to be used by staff who prefer hands-free working.
The phone supports both traditional narrowband and wideband audio codecs, subject to the connected telephone system, network and call route.
Two Ethernet ports allow the telephone to connect to the network while providing a pass-through network connection for a nearby computer.
The Ethernet interfaces operate at 10/100 Mbps and can support separate voice and computer network configurations where correctly administered.
IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet support allows both power and network connectivity to be supplied through one compatible Ethernet connection.
A suitable Avaya external power supply can be used where Power over Ethernet is unavailable, but it is not included as standard.
The adjustable two-position stand allows the telephone to be set at a comfortable viewing and operating angle.
Supported telephone-system functions may include call transfer, hold, conferencing, forwarding, voicemail, contacts and call-history access.
Available functions depend on the Avaya platform, system release, telephone firmware, user profile and administrator configuration.
The 1608-I is an Avaya system telephone and should not be treated as a universal standalone SIP phone for arbitrary third-party platforms.

COMPATIBILITY & SETUP
The Avaya 1608-I is designed for use with compatible Avaya communication platforms, including supported Avaya IP Office and Avaya Aura or Communication Manager installations.
Compatibility depends on the telephone-system model, software release, firmware, licences, network configuration and administrator settings.
The phone uses Avaya H.323 system firmware and should not be assumed to operate as a universal standalone SIP phone on an unrelated third-party platform.
The telephone supports IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet and can normally receive power and data through a compatible PoE network switch or injector.
Where Power over Ethernet is unavailable, a compatible Avaya 1600 Series external power supply will be required. A power supply is not included unless specifically stated or selected.
The secondary Ethernet port can provide a network pass-through connection for a nearby computer, subject to the configuration of the business network.
Extension credentials, system programming, licences and network configuration are not supplied with the phone and must be completed by the customer or their Avaya system maintainer.
Please note: A telephone system, PoE switch, external power supply, headset, extension licence and installation service are not included unless specifically stated.
