DESIGNED FOR BUSINESS
The Mitel 6940 is designed for business users who need rapid access to multiple lines, contacts, directories, applications and advanced telephone-system functions from a single executive desktop phone.
Its seven-inch colour touchscreen has a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels and provides a clear graphical interface for caller information, call history, contacts, voicemail, settings and programmable feature assignments.
On compatible MiVoice Business systems, the touchscreen can provide up to 96 programmable self-labelling functions, with up to 16 assignments displayed on each page. SIP and other platform configurations use different key layouts and may provide fewer available assignments.
State-sensitive softkeys change according to the current call or menu, presenting relevant controls without requiring a large number of permanent physical buttons.
The supplied cordless Bluetooth handset allows the user to move a short distance away from the telephone while continuing a call. When returned to the telephone, the handset charges through the integrated cradle contacts.
Integrated Bluetooth also supports compatible wireless headsets and Mitel accessories. MobileLink allows a compatible smartphone to be paired with the desk phone so that supported mobile calls can be answered using the Mitel handset, headset or speakerphone.
MobileLink can also synchronise compatible mobile contacts with the telephone and allows supported call audio to be moved between the mobile phone and Mitel 6940.
The Mitel 6940 provides native support for analogue, USB and Bluetooth headsets. A compatible Mitel Integrated DECT Headset can also be connected through the telephone’s expansion port.
Wideband audio and advanced sound processing support clearer calls through the cordless handset, speakerphone and compatible headsets. The enhanced full-duplex speakerphone is designed to provide more natural two-way hands-free conversations.
The USB port supports compatible headsets and selected Mitel or third-party accessories. It may also provide charging power for a compatible mobile device, depending on the phone’s power source and accessory configuration.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports allow the telephone to connect to the business network while providing a pass-through network connection for a nearby computer.
The Mitel 6940 was produced for MiVoice Business and several Mitel SIP platforms. Firmware, provisioning, licences and configuration must match the intended communications system.

COMPATIBILITY & SETUP
The Mitel 6940 is a system IP phone and requires a compatible Mitel or SIP telephone platform, suitable licensing and provisioning by the system administrator or communications provider.
Connect the LAN port to a suitable Ethernet network. Where compatible Power over Ethernet is available, the phone can receive power through the network cable. Otherwise, a compatible Mitel external power adapter is required.
The second Gigabit Ethernet port can provide a network connection to a nearby computer. Network addressing, VLAN settings, security and quality-of-service requirements should be confirmed with the system administrator.
Mitel produced MiNet and SIP firmware for the 6940. A telephone configured for one protocol or platform may not register on another without the correct firmware, licences, provisioning files and administrator access.
The number of programmable functions, touchscreen layout, available applications and MobileLink features vary between MiVoice Business and different SIP telephone platforms.
The supplied cordless handset must be paired with the telephone and contain a serviceable rechargeable battery. It is designed specifically for the Mitel 6940 and is not a general-purpose Bluetooth handset.
The standard Mitel 6940 includes Bluetooth but does not include integrated Wi-Fi. The later Mitel 6940w adds Wi-Fi and updated Bluetooth hardware. A wired Ethernet network connection is therefore required for the standard model.
Optional expansion modules, USB accessories and the Integrated DECT Headset may increase the telephone’s power requirements. PoE+ or a compatible external power adapter may be required for particular accessory combinations.
Please note: This telephone does not connect directly to an ordinary analogue telephone line. Please confirm the required Mitel platform, firmware, licensing and power arrangement before ordering. The external power adapter is not included unless specifically stated.
