DESIGNED FOR BUSINESS
The Plantronics CS540 is designed for desk-phone users who need wireless freedom without the size and weight of a traditional dual-ear headset.
The supplied base normally connects between a compatible desk phone and its handset using the telephone-interface cable. The headset then communicates wirelessly with the base using DECT technology.
At approximately 21g, the CS540 headset is particularly lightweight and suitable for users who regularly wear a headset throughout the working day.
The single-ear design keeps one ear open, allowing the user to remain aware of colleagues, visitors and surrounding workplace activity while handling calls.
Its adjustable noise-cancelling boom microphone helps reduce surrounding office sound so the user’s voice remains clearer to callers.
The microphone boom can be positioned for reliable voice pickup, and the headset can be configured for wearing on either side of the head.
The CS540 has a convertible design. It can be used with an over-the-head band, an earloop and ear tip, or an optional behind-the-neck wearing band.
This refurbished package is supplied in the over-the-head configuration unless another wearing kit is specifically stated.
On-headset controls provide convenient access to call answering and ending, microphone mute and listening-volume adjustment.
With the standard telephone connection, users will normally need to lift and replace the desk-phone handset manually when making or receiving calls.
A compatible electronic hook-switch cable or Poly HL10 handset lifter can enable remote call answering and ending from the headset while away from the desk.
Poly specifies a maximum wireless range of up to approximately 120 metres under suitable open-area conditions.
Practical indoor range will normally be lower and depends on walls, floors, reinforced construction, electrical interference and the position of the charging base.
The adaptive power system reduces transmission power when the headset is close to its base, helping preserve battery life and support higher headset density in busy offices.
The rechargeable battery can provide up to approximately seven hours of talk time when fully charged and in suitable condition. Actual performance varies according to battery age, use and operating environment.
When not in use, the headset sits in the supplied base for convenient storage and charging.
Wideband audio can provide clearer and more natural speech when supported by the connected telephone and telephone system. Narrowband operation is also available for broader compatibility.
SoundGuard acoustic protection helps limit sudden excessive sound levels transmitted through the headset during calls.

The base is normally connected between the telephone and its handset. Compatibility, microphone-level and listening-volume controls on the base may need to be adjusted during installation.
With the standard telephone connection, the user will normally need to lift and replace the desk-phone handset manually when making or receiving calls.
Remote call answering and ending requires either a compatible electronic hook-switch cable or a Poly HL10 mechanical handset lifter.
Electronic hook-switch cables are telephone-specific. The correct cable depends on the exact manufacturer and model of desk phone and is not included unless specifically stated.
The CS540 connects to one desk phone. It does not provide a direct USB computer connection, Bluetooth mobile connection or multi-device base.
This package is supplied with the over-the-head wearing band. Earloop, ear-tip and behind-the-neck accessories are only included where specifically stated.
