PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The refurbished Polycom VVX 201 is an entry-level two-line SIP phone designed for straightforward business calling, shared workspaces, reception points, retail environments and other locations requiring reliable IP telephony.
It features a clear monochrome graphical display, Polycom HD Voice technology, full-duplex hands-free calling and two 10/100 Ethernet ports. Power over Ethernet support allows the phone to receive network connectivity and electrical power through a compatible PoE network connection.

DESIGNED FOR BUSINESS
The Polycom VVX 201 provides the core features required for routine business calling without the size or complexity of a higher-end touchscreen telephone.
It is suitable for individual users with modest line requirements and for shared locations such as reception areas, warehouses, retail counters, hallways, kitchens, break rooms and meeting spaces.
Two line keys provide access to configured SIP registrations, call appearances or associated platform features, depending on the telephone system and provisioning profile.
The 132 × 64-pixel monochrome graphical display presents caller information, call status, menus, directories and configurable soft-key functions.
Navigation keys and context-sensitive soft keys provide access to call handling and telephone settings without requiring a touchscreen interface.
Polycom HD Voice technology supports clear and natural conversations when the connected telephone service, network and remote equipment use compatible wideband audio codecs.
The full-duplex speakerphone allows both parties to speak naturally during hands-free conversations without the clipping commonly associated with basic half-duplex speakerphones.
A dedicated wired-headset connection allows the phone to be used with a compatible professional headset and the appropriate headset cable.
Headset compatibility and electronic call control depend on the headset manufacturer, cable, connected telephone platform and configuration.
The phone includes two 10/100 Ethernet ports. One connects to the network, while the second can provide a pass-through network connection for a nearby computer.
The VVX 201 does not provide Gigabit Ethernet. Users transferring substantial amounts of data through the computer pass-through port should consider the 100Mbps maximum connection speed.
IEEE Power over Ethernet support allows the phone to receive network connectivity and electrical power through one Ethernet cable when connected to a compatible PoE switch or injector.
A compatible mains power adapter can be used where Power over Ethernet is unavailable. The adapter is only included where specifically stated.
The VVX 201 uses SIP and must be configured for a compatible hosted VoIP service, SIP server or business telephone platform before calls can be made.
Features such as extension numbers, voicemail, directories, call forwarding, presence, call recording and centralised contacts depend on the connected telephone service.
The phone supports centralised configuration and provisioning, allowing compatible service providers or system administrators to deploy telephone settings and firmware remotely.
Because the VVX 201 is an earlier-generation model, support varies between hosted telephone providers. Some providers may no longer accept newly added VVX 201 devices even where existing installations continue to operate.
The phone may arrive with previous provisioning information removed or restored to its default configuration. It will still require the customer’s own SIP account details or provider-supplied provisioning service.
Polycom later became Poly, which subsequently became part of HP. Product casing, labels, startup screens and documentation may therefore refer to Polycom, Poly or HP Poly.

COMPATIBILITY & SETUP
The Polycom VVX 201 is a SIP network telephone. It requires a compatible hosted VoIP provider, SIP server or business telephone platform and cannot be connected directly to a standard analogue telephone line.
The phone must be connected to an Ethernet network with access to the required telephone service. SIP credentials or a provider-controlled provisioning service are required before calls can be made.
Power can be supplied by a compatible Power over Ethernet switch or injector. Where PoE is unavailable, the correct Polycom-compatible mains adapter is required and is not included unless specifically stated.
The second 10/100 Ethernet port can provide a network pass-through connection for a nearby computer. It does not support Gigabit Ethernet speeds.
A compatible wired headset can be connected through the headset port. The correct headset cable depends on the headset manufacturer and model.
Platform features, firmware versions and remote provisioning support vary. The customer or telephone-service provider should confirm that the VVX 201 remains approved for new deployment.
The telephone is supplied without an extension number, SIP subscription, hosted telephone licence or configuration service unless specifically agreed separately.
Please note: Confirm compatibility with your telephone provider before ordering. The VVX 201 is an earlier-generation model and may not be supported for new activation on every current hosted platform.
