The refurbished Yealink SIP-T42S IP Phone is a versatile business telephone for office users, reception teams and organisations maintaining compatible hosted VoIP or IP-PBX systems.
It combines support for up to twelve SIP accounts with six illuminated line keys, Yealink Optima HD Voice, dual Gigabit Ethernet, Power over Ethernet and USB connectivity for compatible headsets, call recording and optional wireless adapters.

DESIGNED FOR BUSINESS
The Yealink SIP-T42S is designed for business users who need flexible multi-line calling, programmable controls and Gigabit network connectivity.
It offers a faster and more responsive interface than the earlier T42G while retaining a familiar physical layout for established Yealink users.
Up to twelve SIP accounts can be configured, allowing the phone to support multiple extensions, telephone numbers or providers where permitted by the connected platform.
Six illuminated line keys provide direct access to configured lines, monitored extensions, speed dials and call-management features.
Three display pages expand the six physical line keys to provide up to fifteen programmable assignments.
The 2.7-inch backlit graphical display shows caller information, line status, menus, call history and directory entries.
Its paperless design allows programmable-key labels to be displayed electronically rather than relying on printed inserts.
Yealink Optima HD Voice combines wideband audio hardware and acoustic processing to support clearer professional conversations.
The full-duplex speakerphone includes acoustic echo cancellation, allowing both participants to speak naturally during hands-free calls.
Common calling functions include hold, mute, transfer, forwarding, call waiting, Do Not Disturb, call pickup, call parking and voicemail access.
Three-way local conferencing allows the user to combine two additional parties into one call, subject to provider and platform support.
Busy Lamp Field and presence functions can display the status of compatible extensions before a call is placed or transferred.
Directory support can include a local phonebook, remote XML phonebooks and compatible LDAP directory services.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports allow the phone and a nearby computer to share one wired network connection without limiting the computer to Fast Ethernet speeds.
IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet allows a compatible switch or injector to provide power and network data through one Ethernet cable.
Where PoE is unavailable, the telephone can use an optional compatible Yealink 5V/1.2A mains power adapter.
The dedicated RJ9 headset port supports compatible professional wired headsets using the appropriate connection cable.
The USB Type-A port supports selected compatible USB headsets for professional hands-free calling.
USB call recording can be used with suitable storage, firmware and telephone-platform configuration.
Optional Yealink USB adapters can add Wi-Fi or Bluetooth functionality where supported by the installed firmware.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not built into the phone and require compatible optional USB accessories.
The phone supports the Yealink EXP40 expansion module for additional programmable line, speed-dial and Busy Lamp Field controls.
Electronic Hook Switch support allows selected wireless headset systems to answer and end calls remotely when used with a compatible adapter.
The adjustable desktop stand provides two viewing positions for different desk layouts and seating arrangements.
Provisioning options include Yealink Redirection and Provisioning Service, XML configuration, zero-touch deployment and compatible central-management platforms.
Yealink discontinued the SIP-T42S on 31 March 2022 and recommends the newer SIP-T42U or SIP-T43U as replacement models.
The phone requires a compatible SIP account, hosted VoIP service or IP-PBX configuration. These services are not included with the hardware.

COMPATIBILITY & SETUP
The Yealink SIP-T42S is a SIP network phone and requires a compatible hosted VoIP provider, SIP server or IP-PBX.
The telephone connects through Gigabit Ethernet and can receive power from a compatible IEEE 802.3af PoE switch or injector.
Where PoE is unavailable, a compatible Yealink 5V/1.2A power adapter is required. The adapter is not included unless specifically stated.
Wi-Fi is not built in. Wireless network connectivity requires a compatible Yealink USB Wi-Fi dongle.
Bluetooth is not built in. Bluetooth headset or mobile-device connectivity requires a compatible Yealink USB Bluetooth dongle.
The phone has one USB port, so only one USB accessory can normally be connected directly at a time.
Compatible wired professional headsets can connect through the RJ9 headset port. Selected wireless headset systems require the correct compatible EHS adapter.
The Yealink EXP40 expansion module can be connected for additional programmable line, speed-dial and Busy Lamp Field controls.
Available calling functions, programmable keys, directories and Busy Lamp Field behaviour depend on the selected VoIP provider and administrator configuration.
The model was discontinued in March 2022. Compatibility and available firmware should be confirmed before using it in a completely new deployment.
